Obama on SNL

So I love this "only a black actor can portray Obama on SNL" thing. Fucking race issues, I hate 'em. The guy's half white but he's B L A C K as far as people are concerned, end of story.

Combined with the ridiculousness of the assholes who are obsessing over his middle name and the utter non-story that is the picture of him (gasp) visiting another country and (double gasp) dressing in traditional garb (I guess it's only ok when Presidental wives do it) and I'll pull a reverse Michelle Obama and say that it's shit like this that makes me ashamed of my country.

Not just presidential wives; every president gets dressed up in local clothes at the end of all those WTO/ASEAN/etc. meetings abroad.

And I think the rule should be that before anyone can make any sort of point about Barack Obama's middle name they have to pass the lighting-round test: "Quick: What's John McCain's middle name? How about Mike Huckabee? What was Hillary Clinton's middle name before she got married?"

Fail the test, and you're denied permission to mention Obama's middle name in public.

And you probably missed the interview on MSNBC's "Dan Abrams" where Republican Congressman Jack Kingston was interviewed about Obama's lack of patriotism. Kingston mentioned Obama's lack of an American flag lapel pin, and Abrams pointed out that...

ABRAMS: All right. Congressman, first let me ask you, you're not wearing a lapel pin, are you?

KINGSTON: I will wear one and I have worn one. I'm not making a statement about it.

(CROSSTALK)

ABRAMS: But you see my point? I have no idea you were going to show up without a lapel pin, but it seems kind of absurd that you are saying that Barack Obama's patriotism should be questioned because he's not wearing a lapel pin and then you come on the show not wearing one.

KINGSTON: Well, Dan, I don't follow that at all. I'm saying I will be glad to wear one and I have worn one and I do wear one. But Barack Obama says he won't wear one. That's a completely different thing. You're probably not wearing one now.

ABRAMS: I'm not.

KINGSTON: But you would you wear one?

ABRAMS: I would wear one. But I don't feel...

KINGSTON: Then there you go.

ABRAMS: But I wouldn't criticize someone who doesn't. I wouldn't say I'm going to question someone's patriotism. Would I wear one at some time? I've worn one I think once in my life, at one point for something.

Spike, again

You're right that I did miss the MSNBC thing with Kingston. I saw that tool on another show recently and was just appalled by him. He tried floating the ol' Obama won't say the Pledge of Allegiance thing in that interview. Tool with a capital T.
